Engineering the Architecture of Distributed Systems, To enable the reliable, cost-effective application of distributed control systems technology developed and demonstrated for the U.S. Navy, MPR developed an engineering methodology for the architecture of distributed control systems. When properly applied, this methodology will help to prevent the cost overruns, schedule delays, and performance shortfalls often experienced in the development and implementation of complex distributed control systems. The methodology also can be applied to other types of distributed systems, such as distributed sensor systems for chemical and biological agent sensing.
